Today was a learning day. Nick and I worked on a page editing project. We had no prior experience with the software we used, Adobe Fireworks. We had to construct sample web pages that gave the client a walk through, step by step, of the different screens they would be seeing throughout the editing process. At first we had a hard time figuring out what our supervisor wanted. It took us a good hour to get the program downloaded and the images uploaded. When we finally started we had to get used to the different controls of the software. We started the first two pages and hope to finish all four tomorrow.
We have made great progress on our script during the past two days. There are humorous parts but also the serious "what we have learned so far" aspect. We hope to start filming tomorrow but that all depends on how long the page editing project takes. We learned that our movie will be used, by Thread, as a promotional piece. Nick and I will determine how the piece is used and what target audience we think it will be most appealing to.

Day 2
Today was full of meetings, three in fact! Frist Nick and I sat in on a conference call with a client talking about mobile applications. Next we attended the follow up meeting about how Thread was going to market these applications. We learned about how they make a presentation outline and a timeline that has deadlines leading up to the presentation. Our final meeting of the day was with Paula, the overseer of our movie project. We sat down with her at the end of our day and talked about our ideas for the movie.
Next we started to write the script for our movie. So far we have a few ideas for the theme of the movie. Most notably, we want to make our movie look like the T.V. show The Office. The movie is going to show the behind the scenes view of our "internship" at Thread. Including the movie our other tasks will be making a budget to show how many hours we worked on our different projects, we will create a marketing profile of our cumulative projects, and after our video is done we will be presenting it to the staff at Thread.

First day at the office
Today was a great start to my winterim at Thread Marketing. Nick and I arrived around 9 AM and met with Judy McFarland. We were introduced to the staff in an overview meeting that outlined their plans for us throughout the month. We were given the different activities we will be focusing on in the different departments each day of the week.
Mondays -- Public Relations/Communications
Tuesdays -- Creative, Production, vendor Visits and Tours
Wednesday -- Account Services/Management
Thursdays -- Project work days, eMerge, VIS (Sector of Thread Inc.)
Fridays -- IT/Web Services
We will be working on different projects based on what we learn during the different activities and in the departments. Some proposed ideas are to research/build a spreadsheet of different national marketing/communications/PR/digital awards, competitive research analysis, vendor tours, and other projects.
The main project we will be working on during our time at Thread is a "behind the scenes/through the eyes of an intern" viral video that will be shown at winterim fair and potentially on Thread's own social media outlets. This project will be set up similarly to a real client project to help teach us the markting process, production schedules, time keeping/budget, approvals, and other aspects of marketing. We will be making a timeline, script, and editing and filming our movie along with the other projects we will be doing. We may even post bits and pieces of our video on the blogs to give you a sneak peek.
